I have spent many mornings studying the
sunrise and absorbing the Creator's gift of the fresh morning sun, which takes
over thirty minutes to receive. This Giclée original portrays this gift in one
complete painting. In order to capture the entire experience, I preserved in
this painting the sky just as the sun made it come to life while the mountains
and the barn were still dark. The sky was full of hope from the morning sun. By
the time the sun turned the mountains gold with the morning warmth, the sky had
lost its' gift. Just at that time I captured and painted the mountains with all
their cool shadows and warm golden light. There was a lone antelope which
walked right past me and along the trail behind the barn. As the mountains lost
their gift, the sun started to flood across the valley floor; it glimmered off
the windows of the barn and lit up the trees and the fence post with its golden
glow. In that magical moment, I referenced, and then painted the way they were
as the light hit the trees, the barn, the road, and the hills. This instant was
the most exciting moment to reference and then paint. I was able to keep and
include the hope in the morning sky and the gold burning mountains. I remember
and savor this gift. Can you feel the light dancing across the field, beginning
to light up the earth? Can you feel the moisture from the dew and the crisp new
light feeling of the fresh morning sun on Antelope Flats? Kendall
